Subtle Deception

Deception comes in all manner
Clothed like a gentle sheep
The real wolf speaking as angel
The evil intent cleverly hidden deep

For deception readily to happen
There’s a greedy and lying lumpen
And a gullible and credulous person
Learning the hard way a bitter lesson

Deception is nothing but cheating
Promising a moon for a measly nothing
The end may justify his crooked means
The cheater in public eye surely demeans

Oh I wish I can his signs trace
His true colours showing on surface
For people to put him in proper place
By ripping such predator's heartless face.

~*~*~*~

It is better to suffer deception alone, than to involve a hundred or more.

Back...but not for good yet... :P

New Year Wishes...

Movie Marathon

Kids are home for Christmas vacation…so what can I do but watch movies with them one after the other, not in the big screen though but a small screen at home…got pissed off with our ISP, got tired calling them 3x a day to report that our net connection is not yet working…server probs…what an easy answer by a voice prompt? Or is it a voice prompt or some real human creature?

It is raining continuously rendering outing impossible.Yesterday was fun, 3 movies in a day? We rested only when it was time for meals then take a short nap only to be  back to movies again.

Prince of Persia – wow an action, adventure and fantasy movie all rolled into one and shall I say, sort of a mix of science fiction and with lots of humor too. I wish I could buy a ‘magic dagger’, which I could use to change the course of ‘destiny’ of my life.

I love Dustan and Tamina’s chemistry. I even like how they try to steal that dagger from each other. Just watch the movie, I am just speechless. A tear-jerker also at the end…. :P

Will resume soon to post in the blog... :-)

The dawn of new year is not far off. Here is wishing you all a very Happy and Prosperous New Year!

YOU...

You
are the reason
why I smile

You
are the reason
why I love

You
are the reason
why I laugh

You
are the reason
why I survive

You
are the reason
why I cry

You
are the reason
why I struggle

You
are the reason
for whom I am
and what I ought
and want to be!

Let us wait for nightfall
while I lounge in the
safety of your arms
and let the moon and stars
be our silent judges
and prove to me
that you are the reason.

You!

Rain only reminds me of you.....

It was one fine morning. Liz had to meet Jay. As agreed over phone, Jay picked her up at the appointed time.

Jay liked Liz and so did Liz. Meeting each other happened just once in a blue moon. Whenever Liz travelled to the city for a very important business appointment that was mostly infrequent, Liz would always made it a point to meet Jay. Even when Jay was very busy with his work, he always found time for her and was also excited to be with her.
And today, today is very special for Liz. It’s her birthday and meeting Jay is almost a treat…! Jay was on time to pick up Liz.
While driving on a boulevard to the international airport, it started raining suddenly. Not just, drizzle, but a heavy downpour. Whenever they were together, Liz remembered that it always rained and the cool ambience made them utterly romantic.
That’s what happened today too. “I wish this rain and the journey with him will not end,” murmured Liz to herself even as she stole a look at Jay. She felt like melting in his arms with her knees growing weak especially when Jay responded with a mesmerizing smile and those attractive squinting eyes rendered her defenseless against his charm.
“Oh my, those eyes,” Liz could only whisper to herself.
Jay on the other hand, reached for Liz’ hands and clasped them tightly. The touch sent thrills along her spine and gave her goose bumps. She could sense that Jay too was kindled. He stopped the car in a road shoulder and smiled at her. He drew her close to him and ran his fingers across her hairs softly. She snuggled closer and his lips brushed against her cheeks. Her heart pounded feverishly fast and seemed to burst in the sheer excitement. No words were spoken but they became aware of the intensity of their emotions. They could only savor the ecstatic silence as their lips locked with each other.
“I wish to hug you tightly,” Jay whispered under his breath, “Liz, my God, what have you done to me? You are a perfect angel for me, but why can’t I have you all to myself?”
His warm embrace gave Liz a feeling of bliss, making her wrap him in her arms. This willing reciprocation from her made Jay all the more crazy.
Then suddenly, from out of the blue, Jay pushed her down on the seat and fell upon her chest tightening his hold further and smothering her with passionate kisses. Liz could only helplessly oblige and respond to his fervor.
“I love you so much Liz,” he whispered into her ears. “I love you too Jay, only God knows how much” she uttered, almost teary eyed.
Suddenly he realized that he should hold back and sat up to say “Happy birthday Liz.” Liz could only smile understandingly at his control of emotions. Though a trifle disappointed, she was proud of him. As he hugged her, again tears of joy fell from her big brown eyes, as if trying to compete with the rain outside that came cascading on the windshield of his car.
Every time it rained, Liz was always reminded of Jay. Though miles apart, the rains as silent witness always brought back the memories of Jay and the happy moments in the car….they both loved the rain….the sound it gave them in the car and the romantic feelings it brought. She felt in such moments that Jay was just beside her ready for her embrace.

The Mystery.....

Possible ghost or spirit? by SweetGirl©

Apartment No. 13. An apartment that was always shrouded in mystery since tenants started renting it.

Last year, a very young couple was found dead, the criminal went untraced. After that, a new tenant came and a daughter went insane. A few months back, neighbors heard incessant cries of a baby. Neighbors wished to come to the rescue but every time they did, those strange resonances from the apartment ebbed down or the tenants would have left without a word.

Last month, a new tenant had occupied the apartment. A family of four, a father, a mother, a college daughter and a son of ten. A priest came to bless the new abode for this family to send away the evil spirits believed to be causing those terrifying incidents.

For the last three nights, neighbors again heard violent fights and impish cries from the occupants. 'This time," Jennifer muttered to herself, "I will not let this pass again, without probing further."

One night, Jennifer entered into the foyer of apartment 13 of her friend Irene. Though Irene and her family had just moved in recently, the two got close to each other soon. The main door was left ajar but the door to the living room was almost closed. Jennifer wanted to confirm from Irene of the program they were to attend for the next day, afterwhich they will go the mall. She was hesitant to knock the door when she heard loud noises inside. She stood there listening.

It was around 8:00 in the evening. She heard Irene’s daughter, Ellen’s voice loudly and clearly.

“Dad, you cannot do this to me. Please don’t stop this marriage. We are in love with each other for quite some time now. We are so intimate that we cannot live without each other. I only wanted Mom’s and your blessings before we embarked on our married life."

“No, I will never grant your wish....it will be over my dead body!!! This marriage will not take place. I command you to call it off. I would not like you to meet him again, this is final,” her Dad was heard almost mad at Ellen.

“Mom, how can you keep quiet? Were you not aware that Bryan and I were friends since grade school? How can Dad interfere in my affairs and ask me to ditch him just like that? It is just not possible for me to forget him now. Please plead on my behalf. Please.... Mom....I do not wish to antagonize you both but I am going ahead no matter what you say, no matter how much you negate,” she pleaded with her mother.

“I do not care what your Mom may feel about it. But I will not allow this to happen under any circumstance. I will even kill you. Do you understand, you brat?” shrieked Ellen’s Dad.

“For that reason, I do not need your permission anymore. I am going ahead even without your blessings. I am walking out of your house….now!!! I will carry nothing of yours except the dress I am wearing. You can forget your daughter forever,” Ellen was heard to shout back between sobs with finality.

It was then that Jenifer heard a loud scream from Ellen. “Ahhhhh! Dad, you are hurting me. Please take your hands off me!!!”

Her Dad roared…....“If you wish to save your life, promise me that you will forget him. I would rather kill you than allow you to marry him!”

“Why, why can’t I marry him? Give me one valid reason Dad, please…” she retorted.

“I cannot tell you the reason but you will not marry him, and that is final, understood?”

“I will,” she replied stubbornly. It was then that Jennifer heard a loud scream from the girl.

“You have stabbed me Dad.....please......stop......” Her voice trailed into silence. Jennifer heard hurried footsteps.

Her mom was heard crying. “You brute, what have you done to our dear daughter? You have killed her!!!” Help...................!!!!!!!!

“Irene, Forgive me. How can I reveal the secret that has been in my heart for two decades now? Bryan is my illegitimate son. I could not tell her or you out of shame,” he was heard sobbing with a sense of remorse in his voice.

Jenifer silently tiptoed outside and rang for the police to save the dying girl. Soon there were sirens of police cars. When Jennifer led them in with their guns drawn, she was aghast seeing them all on the sofa munching pop corn and laughing before the TV.

“Why Jennifer? What is wrong? Any problem? You have police officers with you. You could have called me.” Irene stood up with surprise in her voice.

The police officers blinked in embarrassment. "Sorry madam, we heard there was an attempted murder.”

Irene and her family stood perplexed for a while before they broke into peals of laughter. “Jennifer, did you misunderstand the dialogue we had a while back? We were helping Ellen rehearse her part on a stage play where she will take part," explained Irene.

Jennifer could only shrug off her shoulders and could not look at Irene eye to eye.

Poor Jennifer, she was a picture of total embarrassment as she stood there amidst the raucous laughter all around.

Preeti-n-Amity: That’s all we need.

Day 2: B is for Best Friends by Artful Magpie
The relationship we share is not a new one. It dates back to the time when Amity has started making her wonderful presence felt over the blogging community.  Though it is of no surprise to me to realize that today she and her blog has reached the level of being a celebrity, that too in such a short span of time. I always knew that she has that li’l extra-ordinarily special in her to reach out to everybody around.

I for that matter happen to be a person who can share a heart-to-heart bond with only a very few. But the warmth that Amity emits is so soothing that I got en-wrapped in it instantly.  Initially she wanted to be my sweet-n-cute mom. But I was hell-bent on developing a sisterly bond among us. J Being the eldest sibling of my family I have always craved for that kind of special love, care and attention  and a sense of protection that only an elder sister or brother can provide. And I am sure if she were near me, definitely she would have showered every bit of her sisterly love on me. Moreover there is no best friend other than a sister. Though we are not best friends but the kind of friendship we share is very special. Among us there is no need to be in constant touch through chats or mails. We don’t follow obligations because we know that we are there in each others hearts. Never in my life before I have uttered all these to her because there wasn’t any need for verbal expressions. Yes we share that kind of strong bond. Knowingly or unknowingly. Told or untold.

First thing first, I am not a poet. On a wider zone I don’t even consider myself as a writer. The word scribbler would suit me the best. So I am not here to compliment on how good she writes and I am not in any mood to toil on how good she is as a person. To all those who are reading me (Amity included), this is no guest-post. This is what I call a LOVE-TOKEN from a younger sis to her faraway elder sis, where the possibilities to meet in real are almost nil (yeah yeah I am ever hopeful that one day we will :P). This is to let her know about how I feel for her. This is to let her know how special she is not in general terms but to me in specific.  This is to let a small part of human population know that love doesn’t stay in the boundaries of limits. It transcends every kind of physical attributes. It is much more than ever you can express. J Love and friendship are the only two things that we need to hug on. Rest everything good will follow… Follow on its own J

Sis, let us together live by our names. Preeti means Love and Amity means Friendship. J

Amity's Beautiful Journey......

He's Someone Is SpecialThe blogger behind Few Miles...is an active member of Jingle's Monday Poetry Potluck and Thursday Poets' Rally. He also plays an important role as a member of Review Tuesday... :-))) Besides these  I have met this versatile writer at Blog-a-Ton and since then he was a constant visitor to  my blog leaving encouraging comments on all my posts.

It is in  Z-A challenge that he has  proved his mettle in prose writing by making his participation in a novel form. And yes, I envisage  a very  promising future for him in novel writing. He is a  versatile writer writing poems in many different forms, Villanelle, Double Etheree, Haikus, to name only a few. I guess his pen name is for someone special in his life which he prefers to keep it a secret. Read his writings and you will learn more from him.

Btw, he calls me Mom, with due respect and affection coz he's just the age of my eldest kid... :-)))

My friends, , please join me in welcoming this new blog pal of mine ...Someone Is Special to   my blog as a guest writer....:-)))

Little things we do make someone feel special and happy on their special day, let it be anniversary or birthday, first or second or any, yet it is specially marked in the calendar. Today is one such fine day for this wonderful person, Amity, celebrating second birthday (or anniversary, as you wish) of this wonderful space, “Dreams Are My Reality”, where dreams are your paints, the world is your canvas, believe, is the brush that converts your dreams into a masterpiece of reality.

Just over a year of blogging, I found many pearls in my travel of few miles and one of them being Amity, a wonderful person who loves to be your critic, who inspires many hearts with her wonderful write-ups and poems and encourages many. I am one of those hearts who have been amazed and inspired by wonderful works of Amity. Here is a small ode dedicated for this wonderful person to share in this wonderful space on this special day…

Journey...
It is a cherishing journey
Composed of femile stones
Friends, smiles and sweet moments
Friends….
As this space unites simple
Hearts as wonderful friends
To cherish and celebrate
Milestones…
Few Milestones
Crossed
With Celebrations
Dreams…
As Dreams Nurture
This Wonderful
Humble Soul
Reality…
Paint inspiring dreams
With believe as brush
To reality

To my dear blogging “Mom” Amity…

This is my first ever guest post in my blogging career and I am happy to share it in your wonderful space. Though I shivered a little to type, I wrote what I felt right from my heart. I wish you to achieve many more milestones and love to enjoy more of your works…

Amity.......Who????

Leo... the Rhymer without reason. Leo hardly needs any introduction to bloggers particularly to my readers. Any attempt  to introduce him would be akin  to carrying coal to Newcastle. He is a well known and popular  figure in my circle of bloggers  and surely beyond and held in high esteem for his poetic ability. I strongly feel  that the title of his blog I Rhyme Without Reason is a misnomer for he writes each time with reason and with profound common sense. His poems are invariably works of art and great charm serving  as benchmark for me and many budding poets to emulate and reach. He is himself  a prolific writer in various platforms besides encouraging various bloggers  through his succinct comments. I know he has been a mentor to many promising poets who approach him, guiding them  into  the nuances of various forms of poetry and prose. I have personally benefited by my association with him in the field of writing and blogging. I would proudly share with you the secret  that my beautiful template is his creation

He hosts a handful of memes from Thursday Tales, to Haiku Heights, to Lots of Laughter and lately the Z-A Challenge in 26 Days for the month of November, which will be ending tomorrow and which I had actively participated that made me a prolific writer for this month as a blogger. Do we need a proof to show that he is a versatile writer and blogger very well known in the blogging community around the world . Name a meme, and he's there with his splendid poems, e.g Monday Poetry Potluck, Thursday Poets' Rally, Writers Island, Sensational Wednesday Haiku and many more.

Lest I give more *talks* with his guesting here than he would do...let me now give the floor to the Rhymer ................. opppsss... he opted this time for a long prosaic lullaby for me but it still rhymes, hiding the poet in him na... :P

Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome, the Amateur Poet who Rhymes Without Reason..:D

~*~*~*~

I frankly don't know what I'm doing here :P Wasn't I here just a year back? I'm sure I said a lot and most of what I know about this Filipino auntie Amity ;) What more could I add on to that, I wonder! I said she puts a lot of effort into her blogging and she still does. I said she had a talent in Acrostics, she still does, and she's even got a bucketload of award badges from Amias at Acrostic Only to prove her talent was recognized by one of the best writers of Acrostic  poetry I know! I said she's a passionate friend, and she is. What more do I add on about Amity? Awwww shucks, no wonder I "nearly" backed out of this guest post agreement. See Amity, I'm finding it so difficult to write about you. :P
I'll give it a try nevertheless. In the past one year, Amity has taken a serious commitment to writing. The fact that she has won two Blog-A-Tonic badges in successive months itself shows she's putting more effort to fine-tune her writing. Kudos to her for that. She's also got better and better at writing Haikus and is a regular at my haiku meme, Haiku Heights. She's now past 200 followers at her blogspace, which should be a milestone too. Not that it would end there, a thousand looks on the cards soon for this extremely sensitive blogger, who tells she'll take "breaks" when she gets irritated. Good thing her plans don't take shape though, I'm sure many would miss her words. She doesn't like her other blog All Acrostics that much, and even after its creation, she's continued to write her acrostics at Dreams are my Reality itself. She's going to heights in blogging, so I think on her anniversary, I'll gift her a nice jacket, so she doesn't feel the chill up there... maybe I can join her there sometime soon! :)
I think that's all I've to add on, since I already mentioned that Madhu mentioned she's stealing hearts in my previous guest post here last year! Hope to see her writing a lot of different forms, win more and more awards and appreciation from her peers, and maybe get to meet her sometime.
Signing off,
The Amateur Poet,

The Symphony Called Amity.....

Nanka Quills. No, no, no, no, no! I mean she owns Quills, the name of her blog. Cute isn’t it? The first time we met, it was over Leo’s place… J We were like the prim and proper teenage girls who could only write fine-tuned comments. Then later on, we got to know each other better (through FB) and then we started commenting each other’s blog with *evil laughs, evil grins*… ha ha ha…We are like the perfect partners in crime. In short, we clicked in so short a time since we met each other….like soulmates na… :D

The moment of ‘no-holds barred’ came soon. Then she started to offer her home, making her door wide open for me to barge in anytime I want to....:D However, I should have done that even during their Diwali celebration. It’s too bad I am not a millionaire so that anytime  I can gate-crash her party… he he he… :D I guess, I need to start saving money for that matter na… :D And don't forget to prepare that superlicious gooeeeeyyyyy cake of yours....:D

This is too much of an intro Nanka, I have said so much na about our ‘relationship’…ha ha ha… I guess it’s your time now to quill……*evil laughs*….. :D….. peace!!! Btw, why did u divulge our top secret, 'my real name'? Hopefully our readers will have memory lapse for the time being... :D

My friends, please welcome my very own Indian friend from Mumbai, Nanka of QuillsJ

I was delighted to be invited by Venelyn more popularly known as Amity by the blogging world, to do a guest post on her reaching a milestone, her 2nd anniversary in blogging. A beautiful mother of three children, she hails from Phillipines. A truly international Blogger she is followed by a large number of people from all over the world. It is to her credit that she has endeared herself to all age groups and is perfectly at ease with each and every one of them.

Every morning I am pleasantly welcomed by Amity's cheerful "Good Morning!!" and never has she failed to leave a comment on anyone's write. Her rich vocabulary and eloquent words are a sheer delight. Her art of using the English language with fluency and aptness is a pleasurable experience whilst reading. I must add here that she has mastered every form of writing, be it prose or poetry. Her gentleness and quiet nature is very evident from the photographs she puts up of herself and her country, from time to time. Always her camera captures serene sceneries or radiant and colorful rare flowers, as dear as herself. She is a serious writer always highlighting a cause and standing up for it. I must include here that Venelyn also has the finer touch of humor which she reveals in her posts as well as in her comments back.

When there are days you know you have not done a perfectly good write, when that zing is missing, there is always someone who shows up, and the first one is usually Amity, my good dependable friend, who finds the intended communication which was not directly expressed. It is such a pleasure to read her comments.

When a message is sent from a distance, you cannot see the face,
You cannot see the Smiles,
But you can sense the care that truly comes from the heart.

We may walk on different paths of life but no matter where we are or go, we will take a little of each other everywhere..
