Quench this wanderlust of heart
It has suffered silently
Forlorn, morose is its ally
Wanting outburst
The wound so deep
Imprisoned by its vulnerability
Tears well like river
Swallowed into the quagmire of hopelessness
Let the passion that binds it
Ferocious as fire
Be benignly divorced from it.

ReplyDeleteurs..hemu..
Yes, this is a good wish (a very good poem too) but it really isn't all that bad, sometimes.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, it won't all go away. I've been there, forty-one years ago now, and it just doesn't all go away. We have to learn to live with and around some of it. Sorry, that's how I feel.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!! :-)
..
Sometimes the desire to travel and flee is a good thing...but I enjoyed your poem.

ReplyDeleteOh, if only "divorce" of strong, heartwrenching emotions was possible! You express what many of us feel... For me, diving into the pain is really the only thing that has worked.
ReplyDeleteIn that place I can feel love, compassion, and even a sense of the witness. Sounds scary, but it is incredibly healing.
Beautiful work here...

How to get by or deal with the suffering is always the issue. I think hopefullness and dreams of what could be, can help. While the pain of a memory doesn't go away, it can fade with time. Peace.
ReplyDeletePassion can be a trickster. Thanks for this beautiful poem.
ReplyDeleteAmazing how we ultimately end up on the other side of this pain. Wishing for you the New Year of your dreams.
ReplyDeleteyour passion has found a voice in this lovely poem. May your dreams take wing and may you find your heart's desire.
