Spider Webs

God's unique creatures
One could only wonder am sure
Researchers made a quest
How intricate they make their nests.

They fire stringy silk
From the center spigot on their backs
And start shooting out the glue
From two side spigots, too!

They coat the dry silk of their webs
With a moist glue to detain flies
Which will later on become
Their food eaten like a gum.

You wonder how they don't get moist
On their own stuffy foulard joist
They just simply tiptoe around the glue
Which they deposit spheroidal globs.

Once done working on their web
They stay at the center of their net
And start waiting for their prey to be trapped
In their glue-coated spiral wrap.

  4. Very nice, Ami! You did your homework and got some good rhyming in too.
    ..
    My spider did get caught in her own web. Yes, they have to be very careful AND also they can weave special silk that isn't sticky just for them to use.
    Isn't our creator God great! Such detail all the way through.

  9. I enjoyed reading this one. I has a smooth rythmn to the flow of words. You did your research too. I quite often do the same because if spawns ideas, words, and "facts". I appreciate your comments on my blog. Over a period days, I will sometimes read a poem over and over, trying to get the words sounding right, never being quite satified. You are too kind. My Best, Rob.

  11. Liked this a lot. :P

    I love spiders. They are a lot like snipers. Patiently wait for their prey to fall in the trap and attack when it is at its weakest. Confirm kill. They're amazing.

  23. Sweetest in the Gale;

    ..is it? me, i play with them when i was a kid, let them crawl on a coconut midrib and once they meet at the middle, they fight, trying to put down their opponent by using their silken threads...:) nice isn't it! but that was supposed to be boys' game but i did it with gusto!

    just our secret, okay?

  24. Aniket;

    you must have tried playing with them, it's fun. let two spiders fight,, and the faster one shoots silken threads to their opponent, that would become the winner....:)

    thanks Aniket!

  32. Great poem. It made me like spiders even more then I did. What I do like is your poem and images. I love when just for a second, the web looks like spun glass.
