Yesterday....
I was a child
young, innocent
dependent on my parents
full of hopes
of dreams
wishing to be successful
to be somebody someday.
Today....
I am in my middle life
experiencing midlife crises
have a family of my own
with wonderful and loving kids
who are starting to leave home
to earn a college degree
for their own good
for their future.
Tomorrow...
I don't know what it could bring
no children to care for
some dreams left unfulfilled
career unsatisfied
will be spending life alone
in my own humble abode.

And so life goes in this circle. A good, honest outline of how it goes. We need to make the most of what we have, along this journey. Nice read.

Maggie;
ReplyDelete...yes Maggie, thank you so much...:)
loved the photo and the concept. It made me think of looking in the mirror and for so many years I saw only what I wanted to see, the young me, the one I had seen in photographs, when I was strong and wild, and then one day I noticed some creases, some wrinkles, and then that's all I could see! Very nice!
ReplyDeleteLife is the greatest adventure of all time. Thoughtful post.
ReplyDeleteperfect for this prompt, time passes.....

Hi Cassiopeia,
ReplyDelete...what a beautiful name like my niece?
that's really life, isn't it? but all in all, it is beautiful!!!
:)
I gobbled up the optimism and hope of the first stanza. The middle stanza I recognized, having lived through it. The last . . . well, I had begun to live through that, but have detoured to a new love and life. I hope the lonely life never comes back. Your poem is profound.
